It is common knowledge among ladies who carry weaves that they should not be left for too long on the head.

Perhaps, this lady may have forgotten she was not carrying her natural hair and decided to leave the weave for 6 months on her head which resulted in a huge mold growth which spread and destroyed her natural hair.

She had to go bald when she took off the weave.
